Christmas in Montana

We were spoiled rotten again for Christmas. Mom & Dad got us a gps unit so that we can find cool places and Ken & Merry got us a camera so that we can take pictures of the cool places (life is good!)

Ken & Merry came out here for Christmas and we took our annual trip to the Yellowstone. It snowed like crazy but we still had a great time.

Santa Claus!

This year went a lot better with the annual Santa visit. We had 2 "Santa Encounters" and they both went well. She was all about telling him what she wanted for Christmas.

Christmas Stroll

Every year Bozeman closes off the downtown area and sets up for the Christmas Stroll. They have Santa Claus and hayrides and a ton of food booths. This year Dave had to work so Cassidy and I were on our own. Cassidy had her first Hayride and she was not happy with the horse that bumped her right before we had this picture taken. We took 3 different pictures and she was glaring at the horse in every one of them.

Happy Halloween 2008!

Cassidy's obsessions with bats is still going strong. She had a blast flapping around the house and hiding in her "dark cave". (under the bed)

She was extremely impressed that Daddy was willing to pull her from house to house. She was even more impressed that everyone wanted to give her candy! She was not impressed with Mommy when she said no more candy.

The Laurents, The DeBoers and a Brown do Yellowstone

We took a trip down through Yellowstone Park and the Grand Tetons. The weather was pretty cloudy and I couldn't believe how much snow and ice we had to deal with. They actually had a road block up in Yellowstone to make everyone leave. (They were afraid the silly tourists would hurt themselves on the icy roads.)

Sandy is here!

Sandy and her family are here for 2 weeks. Yeah! For their first trip out we kept it local and took them up to Palisade Falls in Hyalite Canyon. It was great seeing the boys have so much fun out here.

Finally! A Front Yard

Okay so we still haven't put the whole yard in but the front yard is a start! Big Thanks to all of the friends that stopped by to help!

Hidden Lakes

We finally made it back to the Hidden Lakes up in the Gallatin National Forest. The last time we tried was last June and the snow was still too deep for us to make it back more than a mile. This time we hiked back about 3 miles and saw 3 of the 8 lakes. It was a beautiful day and Dave had fun trying out the fishing in 2 of the lakes.

Woofstock

Cassidy and I went to Woofstock out at the animal shelter. It was a huge fundraiser that had different dog contests, huge inflatables for the kids and a band playing in the parking lot. Cassidy is a big fan of the inflatibles and I think that she would have spent the entire day bouncing and sliding if I had let her.

Horseback Riding in Big Sky

Dave took the afternoon off and surprised his mom with a trip up to Big Sky to go horseback riding.

Merry had a great time and she even found a new lawn decoration. She just has to find a way to get it back to Michigan and sneak it past Ken.

Lewis and Clark Caverns

Merry's latest trip overlapped with Mom and Donna's trip by two days so we decided that we would all take a trip up to the caverns. I had forgotten how neat the formations were and the cooler temperatures were definitely a bonus.

Cassidy had a blast and all she could talk about afterwards were "the bats that live in the dark in the cave" and having both of "the Grandmas" with her at the same time.

Mom's 2nd trip to Ousel Falls

Mom, Donna, Cassidy and I hiked back to Ousel Falls. This is Mom's 2nd trip back there but the first time she made it back the falls were completely frozen over and you couldn't even see them. Cassidy hiked almost the entire way. What a little trooper!

Glacier Park 2008

We dropped Dad and Pete off at the airport and the girls took off for Glacier Park. It was a great trip. We saw mountain goats and bighorn sheep but I think that the ground squirrels were Donna's Favorite.

On the second day we hiked back to Avalanche lake and it just about killed us. I convinced Mom and Donna that the hike would be pretty easy but I think I forgot how hard it really was. Luckily they forgave me (sort of) after they saw the view at the end of the hike.

Donna and Pete's first visit!

Mom, Dad, Donna and Pete all came out to visit. Yeah! We took a 2 day trip through Yellowstone Park and tried to hit all of the highlights. We spent the night over in Silver Gate Montana in our favorite cabins and went up through the Beartooth Pass on our way back.

We didn't get to see a lot of animals on this trip because they are higher up in the mountains this time of year but it was a great time to see the geysers, Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.

Cassidy's Second Birthday

Cassidy was spoiled rotten again! Among this years gifts were a tricycle, a wagon and a swimming pool. She loved them all! She has kept us so busy playing with all of her new toys that she even wore out her daddy.

Jackson Hole

Merry and Ken are out for their spring visit. We went down to the Grand Tetons and spent the night in Jackson Hole. The next morning we took a ferry across Jenny Lake and hiked up to Inspiration Point. Cassidy fell asleep in the backpack so the two of us didn't make it all the way to the top. We sat on a big rock and watched the marmots that were all over the place.

Dave and Ken climbed all the way and said that when they went over the top of a hill there was a moose with a calf that couldn't have been more than a few hours old. He said that the mama was too tired to even pay too much attention to them.

On the way back from the Tetons we came up through Yellowstone National Park. We have had a pretty cold spring so far so there was a lot of snow left on everything. We saw a ton of Moose on this trip and one very large grizzly bear.

Mother's Day 2008

Happy Mother's Day! Cassie and Dave took me up to an unnamed spot (unnamed to protect the guilty) for a hike and to "borrow" more rocks for our landscaping. Cassidy was a great help picking out rocks.

When we got home Cassidy and I painted Mother's Day pictures for the Grandmas. At the end of the day I think that there was a lot more paint on us than there was on the paper but we had a great time.

Horses!

Cassidy and I went to Three Forks today to watch the Montana Annual Horse Roundup. They run the horses right down Main Street in Three Forks. We waited 3 1/2 hours for them to finally make it into town but it was worth it. I can't believe that there are too many towns left that will let people drive horses down their Main Street.

Landscaping!

We have finally started working on the yard. Our neighbors will be so excited! We haven't been able to get too much done yet because it keeps snowing!

Cassidy definitely gets her attitude that she can drive anything from her daddy! She was nagging us the entire day to "let her drive".

March Madness

What a busy month. Cassidy built her first snowman. Cassidy's best friend Quinn turned 1 and Cassidy's obsession with slides is still going strong! I hope everyone is doing well and I hope to have more to say next month!
